Social Media: Through the looking glass.

by admin on December 12, 2009

Today I take the time to reflect upon all that dominates social media. Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, where is all going? And more specifically what does it all mean? Although it’s been many years since I’ve been in practice, I graduated college with a degree in Anthropology. It used to fascinate me learning how different cultures could co-exist in the same world and how they interacted with each other. If people weren’t off killing each other they were off to trade and to learn. What we have here today is an unbelievably fascinating mixture of technology with pure social interaction. This isn’t Arthur C. Clarke fiction. It’s more like Carl Sagan with a thirst to know the answer. But while we’re not dealing in stars and planets, the sheer number of people that are able to chat with one another all across this beautiful planet is simply amazing. So, with all that said. I leave this open to you the reader. Where is this all going? What is the future of blogging, social media, tweeting, and other forms of computerized communication? And more importantly, since this site deals with the medium of change, how does it affect us all? Are we missing something important here? Is there a higher purpose to this? Or could it just be our insane thirst for relationship with one another? These, and more questions will be addressed in this blog. I welcome your input.
